The problem with sleep

In the UK alone, 30.8 million days off work are caused by musculoskeletal problems, including back pain, neck and upper limb problems according to a 2016 report for the Office for National statistics.

Given an average night’s sleep is eight hours, a person sleeps for approximately one third of one’s life. If you live, say, 75 years, that’s 25 years asleep, or 9,125 days. The stresses of modern life are increasing at such a pace that sleep deprivation is a worldwide problem.

The rigours and strains we put on our body on a daily basis through sport, exercise, our jobs, either manual or stationary requires sleep to heal.

Levitex® Foam Technology has a unique combination of characteristics, which address the three main common sleep related problems: pressure, posture and proprioception.

The weight of your body pressing down onto the surface you are sleeping on and the resulting force that acts against your body when supine.

Your spine has three natural curves – at your neck, mid back, and low back. Correct posture should maintain these curves, but not increase them.

Your body’s own sense of where they are in space, enabling muscles to relax, heal and promote valuable sleep. When muscles are active the receptors known as spindles, fire messages to the spinal cord and ultimately the brain with constant information on the bodies position – Levitex® calms this whole process down to give restful sleep.

The solution

The Levitex Mattress allows your body to experience improved posture whilst lying down, exerts less pressure on your body when sleeping and allows your body to relax and to naturally know where it sits in space (proprioception). This allows your body to rest, repair, restore and rehabilitate, all whilst you sleep.

The Levitex Pillow is personalised to your sleeping position and body shape, helping you maintain neutral resting spine as you sleep and optimising your sleep posture. It has the same pressure relieving properties of the mattress, and helps with proprioception too.
